Chick Magnet Showcase

Last Saturday and Sunday I spend my time the whole day just hanging out at 1Borneo. Funny thing is, I hate going to that place. The only thing worth my time there is going to Daiso. If I could avoid going there then I would. I personally think shopping at KK is better than going to 1Borneo.

But this particular weekend was different. I was there from 9am till 10pm on Saturday and 12pm till 6pm on Sunday, even though I have IEM Dinner that Saturday night. It’s all because of this…

An exhibition showcasing Mountain Bike (MTB) by MTB owner in KK. The showcase is held in conjunction with Kinabalu Cycling Challenge 2008 on 14th December 2008 at 1Borneo. These bikes cost ranging between RM1,500 and RM20,00. Yeap, some of them cost more than a motorcycle. If you see someone washing their bicycle at a carwash, chances are it’s an expensive bicycle. I did that a few times when I don’t have enough time on my hand. I like to wash it myself at home, giving it my personal touch. That’s the only way you know if there is something wrong with your ride. For those who aren’t able to come (I understand why *wink* *wink*) let me show you what’s going on during the showcase.

Mus (sitting), Danny (in red, owner of that bike) and Jeff helping to arrange the Freeride & Downhill section of MTB showcase.

Yes, the black bike in the middle is mine!

These are MTB Hybrid, so called hybrid because it is MTB by design but equip with on road racing piece. These bikes weigh as light as a 15″ laptop. Its very light, you can lift it up with one hand and take a look at the bottom of the bike. I’ve tested it.

Looks complicated and futuristic aren’t they?

By afternoon, all MTB bikes (Freeride & Downhill section) are here to be showcased.

A few jump action during the showcase. Boys and girls don’t do this at home (or shopping complexes). Do this outdoors.

I asked my friend to try my bike on this trainer. Looks easy but it’s actually not. I fell a few times trying to get a hang of it. But after a gazillion tries, I got the hang of it.

These boys, Sabah Sukma Cyclist, can cycle on the trainer for hours. I can only last for… 10 minutes.

Come cycles with us. Actually the led read “WELCOME”. This is some of the light we use when we go night riding.

Fun bike was also showcased at the exhibition. Please take a look.

“If I want to go the other way, would you turn?”

Still remember Chopper?

Don’t you like this tandem bike? Grandpa and grandaughter spending some quality time.

And lastly!

Did I say chick dig us Mountain Bikers? Now you see, MTB’s are chick magnet.

Umm, it’s a chick magnet alright, but not to the owner. Err, security? I think that young lady is getting away with that bike.

Now you know where I was on my weekend.

  • Talking about bicycle, you know, at first i have no intention of getting myself a bike but now, i think i’m about to be sold to the idea of owning one. i was told that there are quite a number of types, sia pun tidak dapat kasi beza mana satu untuk cross country, mana satu untuk road etc, etc. Tapi mahal juga harga kan? I’ve been wishing that i could do those “stunts” but unless i want to be hospitalised, i guess, it’ll remain a wish lah saja.
