What to do today?

Bogged down with list of things to do but couldn’t really arrange which one to start first or maybe do thing all together and ending up not completing any of them, or worst, having to add new task before even completing the earlier ones? That’s where you need to have a to-do list. During my pre-smart phone era, well actually my smart phone era started with Nokia N70, then E71 which later I found out it’s not that smart at all. I mean you’d think it will simplify your everyday task but ending up having it as one of your to-do list is absurd. Come to think of it, my first “smart” gadget was Palm M130 PDA, and then switched to Sony Clie (it’s a gift from a friend), still it was not as smart as what we have today. OK so the technology was not that great back then, hence why I end up using back the good old pen and paper method.

So like I was about to say, I started to have a to do list on my small organizer and would simply strike out task that I’ve completed. I improve my task handling ability; manage to get more things done. Actually what I would like to have is to use less paper, or rather heading to paperless environment. But because it’s actually hard to write fast on your devices, and carrying your laptop around is not really practical; imagine you’re at a Tamu and constantly opening and closing your laptop just to check your shopping list, you just have to resort to using the ol’ pen and paper.

Now came the smart phones era, where gadget having QWERTY keyboard. Did you know in Russia it is QWERTZ keyboard? The “Y” and “Z” located at a different area. I don’t know “Y” they “Z”o that. Anyway, yeah, so now, you can actually really use your phone, really use it. For Nokia, since I’ve been using them for some time, and recently I’ve change my broken E71 to a less smarter C6, if you don’t fancy or maybe using the to-do function on the calendar is troublesome, why don’t you use Notes or Active Notes pre-installed on the phone itself? I’ve used it many of time. I prefer the Active Notes because you could attach photo and sound clip to it, and even easily transfer it to another Nokia phone. iPhone I like very much, I even bought and Todo app, very easy to use, adding task to it is a cinch. It synchronizes well to my Mac. For the rest of Smartphone out there, I’m not sure there are notes taking app inside it but come one people, your Smartphone is damn expensive. Do more with it. And if you work most of the time facing the computer, you might want to install a simple Stick Note like application, which is free on the Internet.

Oh and another thing, morning is a good place to think and arrange your to do list. Because you’re fresh, you’d be able to think clearly. It’s good to take down your today task, arrange it according to its priority, and even list down what you want to do the next day. So the next day, you just work a little with what have on previous day and think ahead again what you want to do the next day. Be one step ahead. Sounds good no?

So how and where do you keep you’re to do list?
