Blogging From Steemit to Hive
This is a story about how I started with Steemit before switching to Hive. I was first introduced to Steemit by a friend in January 2018, not long after we started trading crypto. For you who don’t know what it is, Steemit is a blockchain-based blogging and social media website, which rewards its users with the cryptocurrency STEEM for publishing and curating content. I have posted a few blogs over there, mirroring what I post on my WordPress powered blog.
Between then and today, there’s not much blog post, I must admit. I tried to blog as much as I can like I used to. But posting the same content on different platforms, to me, is a time-consuming task. You spend a lot of time editing in WordPress, but you can’t simply copy & paste what you have done there into Steemit. To be honest, it’s much simpler editing in Steemit, but still a different process nonetheless. So I try to find a WordPress plugin that could help me instantly post my blog to Steemit, to which I found it, and was happy with it. Problem solved.
Middle of this year, the plugin gets updated, but my blog was posted to Hive. I was feeling disappointed at first because that’s not what I want. Not blaming the developer though because it’s my fault for not spending time on Steemit to understand what’s going on.
So what did I do? I deleted the plugin and installed a different one. After a few blog posts, my Steemit didn’t show any new posts. The plugin seems to be failing to post to Steemit. Now that’s also very frustrating. So I’m back to manually posting my post again.
Today, I was browsing through posting in Steemit, upvote and commenting a few, when I found Webgrrl’s post. She has switched to Hive. This makes me wonder why. After a bit of reading, I now understand why my previous plugin developer has switched to Hive. I also found out that my Steemit posting is already mirrored to my Hive account, I just need to log in using the same password. If you are wondering, Hive rewards its users with HIVE cryptocurrency.
